Take The Memories, Leave The Paperwork
When my third child was born, I lost track of something as simple as our home insurance payments and policy documents. Not lost as in gone forever, just lost as in buried somewhere between three email accounts, a shoebox of receipts and a folder I swore I'd organise "this weekend." Anyone with young kids knows that weekend never comes.
That small, ordinary frustration sent me back to something I'd seen for years but never quite named. Before Casalyf, I sold homes for a living, and genuinely loved the industry. But there was one problem I saw again and again. Sellers would sit across from me and not be able to tell me basic things about the home they'd lived in for a decade. When the roof was done. Who installed the hot water system. What's actually covered under warranty. Not because they didn't care, but because nobody ever gave them a place to keep that information as life moved on around it.
That's the gap Casalyf fills. It brings every angle of owning a home, and every document that comes with it, into one place that's simple to use today and still useful in ten years.
Here's the part that doesn't get talked about enough. Property information is handled like a transaction. Tradespeople, agents, installers and warranty providers are only invested in your home for as long as the job lasts or the invoice gets paid. But if that work turns out faulty, it's the homeowner who wears the consequences, often years later, often without the paperwork to prove what was promised. That's where people feel the real pain. Something breaks, a warranty claim comes up, and the one piece of information they need is scattered across an inbox, a login they've forgotten, or a drawer that hasn't been sorted since they moved in.
We built Casalyf to be the opposite of transactional. It's the one place that holds the life of your home, not just the day you bought it. Upload your documents once and they're there when you need them, shareable between co-owners so nobody's chasing the other for a file, and transferable when you sell. You choose what goes with the house and what stays yours. Your furniture, your art, the personal things were never really the home's story to begin with.
We're building the other side of this too. Builders spend enormous amounts of time on post-handover admin, chasing sign-offs, managing inspection bookings, answering the same questions from clients months after the job is done. Our builder portal is built to take that weight off, streamlining communication after handover so builders can focus on building rather than paperwork. It's early days there. We're in trial phase and actively looking for builders willing to try it with us.
The homeowner app is live now on the App Store and Google Play. We're still early, still learning, and every bit of feedback from the people using it is shaping what we build next.
None of this is about adding another app to your phone for the sake of it. It's about making sure the things you should never have to remember on your own, warranty terms, service history, who did what and when, are somewhere safe, easy to find, and yours for as long as you own the home.
A home holds a lot of memories. We just think it should hold its paperwork too.
